Former UEFA president Michel Platini, revealed that choosing the Ballon d’Or has never been easier as he would vote Raphael Varane. It appears that former UEFA president Michel Platini, doesn’t really care about trends as he would choose France defender Raphael Varane to win the Ballon d’Or this year. The achievements that players like Luka Modric, Cristiano Ronaldo, Antoine Griezmann, and even Kylian Mbappé are not important to him.In Platini’s view, the prize should go to the only player who won the two major trophies of the year, which are the World Cup and the Champions League.Raphael Varane did have a starring role in both competitions for Real Madrid and France, but the defender is far from the type of player that usually gets picked to win the Ballon d’Or.Also, there is a very slim chance for Varane to be the player who breaks the 10-year tradition of giving the award to either Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.Even the Argentine who won none of those important trophies that Platini considers for giving the prize, has a far better chance of being in the podium than Raphael Varane ever will. The France international also has at least another three compatriots to worry about if he wanted to pick up the prize at this year’s ceremony in Paris, his teammates Kylian Mbappé, Antoine Griezmann, and N’Golo Kanté have a better chance than he does to be part of the ceremony.”It has never been easier to choose a Ballon d’Or winner. Only one player won both the World Cup and the Champions League – his name is Raphaël Varane.”– Michel Platini pic.twitter.com/aRskpd7eUD— FourFourTweet (@FourFourTweet) October 30, 2018There is still no clue to which player will be part of the podium for the award, but the favorites to be part of it are still Luka Modric, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Antoine Griezmann.Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappé, does have a slight chance of sneaking in the final three players who will fight for the award, Lionel Messi does too because of his impressive stats from 2018.But the most obvious choices are the three players who were recently mentioned, with Griezmann edging out as the clear favorite given that he won the Europa League and the World Cup this year.Actually, when Platini spoke to RMC Radio via L’Equipe, it seemed like he was talking about Griezmann but he surprised everyone when he revealed that his top choice was Varane.Opinion: Neymar will earn respect back from the PSG fans Tomás Pavel Ibarra Meda – September 14, 2019 After completing his incredible return to Parc des Princes, we predict that Neymar will earn the respect back from PSG supporters. The situation between Neymar…“There has never been an easier decision on who should win the Ballon d’Or. There is only one player that has won the European Cup and World Cup,” said Platini.“Normally there is a debate between Ronaldo or Messi, Messi or Ronaldo, but this year only one player has won all that. His name is Varane, and besides that, he is an excellent player… very, very good.”“Results are the only the objective factor. You can have your opinions about Griezmann, Mbappé… but the only one that has won it all, the two most important competitions, is Raphael Varane,” he continued.Michel Platini vote Raphaël Varane pour le Ballon d’or https://t.co/sMpTyS7ciB pic.twitter.com/OWKdoqjal6— L’ÉQUIPE (@lequipe) October 30, 2018We are closing in the final stages of the year and the ceremony is closer every day, December 3rd is the key for anybody who is keeping tabs on this major event as we are.The day in which the Ronaldo/Messi era will come to an end, at least for a year because we don’t think that either of both players is done winning any more individual accolades, they are just taking a small break. We are certain that both of them will keep on playing at the same level for the next five years at least, and they will both be an important part of the next individual prize podiums. There is even a big chance of Cristiano Ronaldo winning his sixth Ballon d’Or and he finally beats Messi, an ambition he has pursued throughout his whole career and something that could finally happen before the end of the year. The problem here is that France Football organizes the ceremony, a French publication that has been rooting for a Frenchman to win the award this year. But make no mistake, Platini’s wishes are unlikely to become a reality as Raphael Varane will most certainly not win the prize.El Balón de Oro debe de ser para Varane: Platini https://t.co/Lk7qe9b1Bc pic.twitter.com/y7EqZ83FyM— José López (@jjlogo151) October 31, 2018Who will win the Ballon d’Or this year? Babar has been a prolific scorer for PakistanAAMIR QURESHI/AFP/Getty ImagesPakistan never ceases to produce exciting young cricketers. Presently, the man who is garnering all the rave reviews, from the batting department, is Babar Azam. Boasting of an incredible record and scoring runs with stupendous consistency, Babar has even managed to stay ahead of the man he is compared with in terms of matches taken for reaching some of the key batting milestones. As the young Pakistani batsman enjoys a fruitful time with the English county Somerset in the ongoing T20 Blast, England’s premier T20 tournament, these comparisons are once again coming to the surface. But Azam has now spoken out and made it clear that he does not look upon them that favourably. The 24-year old gave an interview to cricket website PakPassion.net where he outrightly stated that being compared to someone is merely a matter of concern for the fans, not for him.”I don’t think there is or should be any comparison as we are different types of players. I just focus on my batting and working on my strengths and weaknesses and have no desire to be compared with any other cricketer.I’m sure I speak for most cricketers when I say comparisons are only for fans and the media and we cricketers don’t really crave any comparisons or want to be compared to any current or former players as that just creates endless pressure,” Babar asserted. Azam says he isn’t interested in comparisons with Virat KohliBCCI TwitterHe also made a categorical statement about not wanting to be compared to anyone. “As great as he is, I don’t want to be compared to Virat or any other cricketer, I just want to win matches for my country as that is my only aim.”When asked about the batsman he felt most impressed with during the World Cup, the Pakistani right-hander didn’t mention Kohli but the Player-of-the-Tournament Kane Williamson.”I really enjoy watching Kane Williamson bat, apart from when he is scoring runs against Pakistan. What impressed me most about Williamson is the way he paces his innings, the way he plays his shots so late, his calmness at the crease, his timing, the way he handles pressure and the way he leads from the front and absorbs responsibility. He’s just a fantastic role-model for any batsman and he is a batsman who I try to emulate.”One area where Azam has faced criticism is his lack of aggression, at times, in limited-overs game. He, however, seems content with his playing style and doesn’t put much value on his critics’ comments.”I don’t need to answer my critics regarding this. My statistics and performances speak for themselves. I am happy and satisfied with my performances for Pakistan to date and if people want to criticise, then they are free to do that…. Sometimes whatever you do is never good enough and you will receive criticism despite doing your best for your team,” Babar added.

Popular on Variety He said that the traditional entertainment and online entertainment businesses would continue to merge in the future. He cited as an example the fact that more than 80% of tickets for movie theaters in China are now bought online. He said that the oligopoly in China’s online video market – where three players control around 80% of the market – would likely continue. It was unlikely to fragment, he said, due to the high cost of entry. But it would not consolidate further either “because producers and advertisers won’t favor a market that only has one dominant player.”He said that the entertainment business in China is set to grow from $154 billion in 2016 to an estimated $403 billion in 2022, and that the share taken by online video would grow from 15% to 25%, according to iResearch forecasts. He asserted that iQIYI was “well-positioned to capture the huge entertainment market” in China. This was due, he said, to its leading position in the market; its “advanced business model” that allowed it to “capture market opportunities”; an in-depth understanding of Chinese entertainment; its “top-notch original production capability”; and “disciplined and efficient investment in content.”He said that one of the company’s strengths was its “diversified monetization model,” which he referred to as “Netflix plus.” As well as subscription and advertising, the revenue sources include publishing, content distribution, IP licensing, online gaming, e-commerce, and talent agencies. Gong Yu, founder and CEO of China’s leading streaming platform iQIYI, said at Mipcom content market on Tuesday that artificial intelligence “will reshape the entertainment industry over the next 10-15 years, much more so than the internet did over the past three decades.” There was a shift underway from the “internet era” to the “A.I. era,” he asserted. In the former, users browse and search for content from the company’s library of content; in the latter, creators and platforms provide “tailor-made content” and “intelligent recommendations” to the users. Among the uses of A.I. technology in entertainment would be “Intelligent Creation,” such as the deployment of A.I. in casting, script evaluation, and traffic and box-office predictions. But it would also be utilized in other areas, such as customer service, monetization, distribution, and content production, such as keyword and thumbnail generation. ×Actors Reveal Their Favorite Disney PrincessesSeveral actors, like Daisy Ridley, Awkwafina, Jeff Goldblum and Gina Rodriguez, reveal their favorite Disney princesses. Kolkata: The Mamata Banerjee government is planning to introduce a pension for retired persons who have excelled in sports but are now suffering from financial constraints.”I will urge the Sports & Youth Affairs department to give a serious thought for introduction of some sort of pension facilities for the retired sportspersons who are badly in need of such financial assistance. We have similar facilities from the state Information & Cultural Affairs department for artistes. I feel that the Sports department should also come up with such benefits,” Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said at a felicitation programme for successful sportspersons from the state at Netaji Indoor Stadium on Monday. The Sports department has already provided financial assistance to 24,000 clubs across the state. A total package of Rs 5 lakh has been given to these clubs, with the first instalment being Rs 2 crore. “Before we came to power in 2011, the budget of the Sports & Youth Affairs department was only Rs 73 crore. The Chief Minister also raised her concern over inhibitions of corporate in sponsoring clubs or holding sports events in fear of probe agencies. “There was a time when corporates sponsored sporting activities. But at present they hardly do so in fear of probe agencies. They (Centre) are setting agencies in pursuit of the clubs,” she said.
