More than 100 trusts are participating in NHS Plus, which will marketoccupational health services via the Department of Health’s website. All the profits made by NHS Plus will be reinvested back into the healthservice. Junior health minister Hazel Blears said the programme would help generatemuch-needed funds for the NHS and improve the health of the UK workforce. The Department of Health estimates that British companies lose 7 millionworking days to stress-related illnesses every year, at a cost of £5bn. Back pain is also a major problem with 15 per cent of unemployed peoplehighlighting this as their reason for not working. Blears said, “Working with the private sector is not a one-wayarrangement. NHS Plus will help the NHS reap the rewards of its own innovationwith income generated from providing occupational health services such asimmunisation, pre-employment screening and insurance medicals forbusinesses.” Blears believes NHS Plus will also have a positive impact on businessperformance. “To ensure the long-term health of the labour market we need a healthyworkforce. NHS Plus will help us to achieve this. Achieving business goals atthe same time as improving health leads to improved staff morale, recruitmentand retention. “NHS Plus will play a part in breaking the cycle of deprivation – poorhealth leading to unemployment and wasted lives as people fail to reach theirfull potential. “Together with Unison, the Health and Safety Executive, the Departmentof Work and Pensions and other Government departments, we are tackling thevital area of improving the health of people at work.” Comments are closed. Ighalo could have Cantona impact at Man Utd, claims ex-EPL legend

first_img The 30-year-old arrived in Manchester on Sunday with United hoping he can provide a cutting edge after they failed to score in three successive Premier League matches for the first time since October 2016. “This was an emergency signing,” the former United goalkeeper said on Sky Sports News. “I can understand a lot of people taking about a scatter gun approach, well it had to be with Marcus Rashford being out. “The top four is still possible for Manchester United, they had to go and get somebody. “The boy that’s come in (Ighalo) has got nothing to lose, nobody expects anything unbelievable from him but they definitely needed somebody in that position. “You never know. A long, long time ago Manchester United signed a certain Frenchman (Eric Cantona) who no one really expected much from and he ended up propelling them to one of their most successful seasons of all time. United’s goalless draw with Wolves on Saturday leaves them seventh in the table, six points off the top four, but Bosnich believes they can still qualify for Champions League football next season. “I think they can, there’s no doubt about that,” he added.. “Six points at this stage of the season for me is still nothing. “The big question of them not scoring goals is the way that they’re playing.
