A Division bench comprising of Justices Siddhartha Varma and Ajit Kumar has asked the Central Government to put it in touch with the authority so as to verify the allegations of administration of Covid vaccine in foreign countries. “A general complaint amongst the Members of the Bar is that though the vaccine is being administered in other countries but somehow it is not being administered in our country. To verify this fact whether the vaccine is being administered in other countries, we direct the Central Government’s counsel to help us to get in touch with Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) through Video Conferencing,” the order states. Recently, global pharma corporations like Pfizer and Moderna announced that their respective Covid vaccines have over 90 per cent efficacy. Certain members of the Bar claimed that the vaccine is available and is being administered to citizens in foreign countries. The Court has thus asked the Central Government Counsel to arrange a virtual meeting of the Court with the ICMR, Today at 3.30 PM, during hearing of the suo moto case titled “In-Re Inhuman Condition At Quarantine Centres And For Providing Better Treatment To Corona Positive”. This case was initially registered to monitor the conditions of Quarantine centres in the State. The scope of the matter was later expanded to address all issues arising due to the pandemic and/or lockdown. Inter alia, the Court has ordered deployment of police personnel on all roads, in continuation of its order to constitute a Task Force, to ensure that all the persons wear masks in public spaces. “Senior Superintendent of Police, Prayagraj is present in the Court. He himself has stated that he would personally look into the matter of deployment of police personnel in the city and shall also see that sustained efforts are made to ensure that people do wear masks as a rule,” the Court recorded in its order.
