Widespread Panic Busts Out “Coconut” 130 Shows Later In Pensacola [Watch]

first_imgWidespread Panic brought their show to Pensacola, FL last night for the first of their two-night stand at The Saenger Theatre. To end their first set, the southern gents dusted off “Coconut” from their 1988 album Space Wrangler. Having not played it since Panic En La Playa in January of 2015, a solid 130 shows have passed since the song’s last life.Among the rest of the night’s highlights included covers of Neil Young‘s “Vampire Blues”, Chuck Berry‘s “Let It Rock”, J.J. Cale‘s “Ride Me High”, and Talking Heads‘ “Heaven”. Panic fans were treated to knee-slapping versions of “Heaven, Ribs & Whiskey” and “Street Dogs For Breakfast”, as the night simmered into a “Mercy” extended jam that, with a break on the drums, led into a solid “Fixin’ To Die”. Second set ended with “Pigeons”, marking another stand-out song selection with remarkable placement.
